La compañía Bimbo que hoy conocemos tiene sus orígenes en México. El Bimbo español es una réplica de un primer Bimbo fundado en la Ciudad de México, que comenzó sus actividades en el país latinoamericano en diciembre de 1945, pocos meses después de terminar la segunda guerra mundial.
Veinte años más tarde, en marzo del 64, uno de sus fundadores, decidió crear la misma empresa en España con idénticos símbolos y filosofía. BIMBO inició su actividad en España en 1964, en su fábrica de Granollers (Barcelona).
En 1978, los empresarios mejicanos que en su día fundaron Bimbo, vendieron la totalidad se sus acciones y desde entonces ambas compañías la mejicana y la española han seguido caminos paralelos pero completamente independientes.
Hoy en día, BIMBO es una de las mayores organizaciones del sector alimentario en la Península Ibérica. Desde la introducción del pan de molde hasta la completa gama de productos de hoy, Bimbo sigue haciendo llegar cada día a millones de hogares españoles sus productos frescos, tiernos y deliciosos. Gracias a esta gran aceptación por parte del público, los productos BIMBO se han consolidado como líderes de mercado en las categorías de panadería, bollería y pastelería de marca.
El gran logro de Bimbo ha sido desde el principio introducir en España un producto totalmente desconocido hasta entonces: el pan de molde.
